This and that

We made our first video and placed it to YouTube today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osmMKeB-Mno  Let us know what you think about it!

We placed a very short video of Attila from back in March 2011 to YouTube as well, just a fun one. Our YouTube name is Mudi Kennel (big surprise that eh). I have some other video clips from the past, but they will have to wait as it took all day to make the AJ litter video...I never would have guessed it would be so hard!

We have several pups hoping for a great home, if you are interested, here's your chance, we won't have another litter for at least a year, probably longer.

Happy 2nd birthday to the JO litter (Gabanna and Vanya in Mexico, Slate in the USA and Öcsi and Chichi here in Hungary) on January 2nd, we hope you had a special day!

Happy birthday to our Angel who turned 11 on January 11th.  She is now the oldest Mudi here. She had her hips rechecked during the summer when she was so sick with pyometra, she still received C/Enyhe from MKOE, but she has no signs of arthrosis, which is really what matters in an 11 year old dog.  She gets around as good as ever, just a good bit slower, but I think that is by her own choice.  She has the old girl attitude, whats to rush for at my age.

Happy 6th birthday to the SG and RH litters born on the 29th of January.  Most of the pups in those litters are alive and well.  A few have sadly passed from this life due to car accidents, snake bite and an intestinal infection.  Life is precious and short, we are constantly reminded of that these days.

Hug your Mudi today as well as the people you love!

Come on spring!

Hearts and Souls

It is with broken hearts that we write this post.  Yesterday, our most beloved Fecske left this earthly life to become another member of God's Garden.  It was sudden and totally unexpected.  We do not know what illness felled her, but she was the epitome of grace and dignity to the end as the Grande Dame she always was.  She was Péter's soul mate dog, and the soul of our home. We will miss her forever.

Puppies have arrived!

Gondûzô-Alkonyat AJ litter born (Hungary) 12/29/12

Parents are: Gondûzô-Alkonyat Mokány Lator "Attila" x
Gondûzô-Alkonyat Örök Jóság "Jósi"

Litter was bred by live cover in the USA in late October 2012, Jósi was flown to the USA and spent 6 weeks there with one of her owners.  Puppies are born and raised inside our home here in Hungary.  All pups have long tails, wavy-curly coats, 1 brown merle female, 5 brown females, 2 brown males, FCI pedigree with 3 complete generations, almost 5 full gens, 23 generations total.  A complete Pedigree Analysis was done, the Epilepsy Risk Score is: 19 Low; COI: 14.1%.  We think lower epilepsy risk is most important, with COI also given strong consideration.  This is the first litter we have bred with a COI over 12%. This is our 17th litter since 2004, our kennel COI average is: 6.9% (17 litters, high COI: 14.1 (second highest: 11.3), Low: 2.7%, majority of litters are in the 2-8% range: 13 litters).  Pedigree Analysis is done on every litter we own or co-breed since 2010.

Parents data:
Jósi (OJ litter COI: 5.8%); 4+ years old; this is her second litter (first (NK litter) was born in 2010); 4 of 8 ‘OJ litter’ pups have been hip/eye checked with passing results (1 littermate died in an accident at 4 months of age)
Jósi has: MKOE hips, elbows, patellas: A/Mentes (free)
Eyes (official eye vet exam, Hungary): 12/27/12 Clear
Temperament test passed (Hungary)
Herding Instinct test passed (sheep, Hungary)
Breeding exam passed (Hungary)
45 cm tall (17 ½”)
Jóság’s parents are both eye tested clear and both have official A hip scores; both parents are temperament and herding instinct tested passed on sheep/ mother also on gray cows

Attila (ML litter COI: 7.5%); 4 years old; this is his first litter; 4 of 5 ‘ML litter’ pups have been hip/eye checked with passing results
Attila has: OFA hips Good (B equivalent)
Eyes CERF exam Clear (2010)
(No breeding exam in USA, but he has 2 testicles and complete dentition with a scissors bite, perfect tail, excellent fur, pricked ears)
47-48 cm tall (18 ½”)
Attila’s parents are both official B hip scored (MKOE) and mother has clear eye exam; mother is temperament tested (USA and Hungary) and herding instinct test passed on sheep/gray cows

Both parents have excellent temperament, no fear of loud noises, fireworks or storms. Attila is very tolerant of people and strange dogs.  Jósi is a very human friendly dog and strange dog tolerant. Their littermates are active, healthy and many are doing sports. The pups in Jósi’s first litter are very sport centric, we expect these pups to also be very sport capable.

Puppies are available to active, loving homes for breeding or non-breeding purposes.  All puppies will be co-owned until spayed/neutered, with the new owner given primary owner status.  Co-own involves ONLY the right to approve selected mates for breeding and determination of suitability for breeding (passed health exams, age, proper dentition, correct temperament, etc.).  Financial responsibility of the dog and litters (sired or whelped) are solely the responsibility of the primary owner, no costs or gains are shared with the secondary owners.

We do our very best to prevent the further spread of epilepsy genes into the Mudi gene pool and we wish this for the puppies we create as well, this is why we co-own.  We do not breed for money or fame, we breed to make good, all-purpose Mudis for people that want an active Mudi companion.  We do not seek super sport competitor homes, actually we avoid placing a puppy in those as dogs are not sports equipment.  We do not breed for size as a good Mudi is good in any size, the talent of the Mudi is determined by the talent of its trainer.  We breed with health as our number one concern, because without health, any other goal is unachievable.

We hope for many little brown and brown merle Christmas presents under our tree : )

Jóság and I are in the USA!  We came for many reasons but one big reason was to breed Josi to Attila in Ohio!   Josi must have known and dutifully came into season today!  We will go to breed next week and update you as to how it goes.  With any luck, the puppies will implant before we fly back home later in November!  We hope to have lovely brown and brown merle pups under our Christmas tree this year : )

Also we are SO excited about Lonya about to have her pups in Florida!  We will be sure to announce their grand entrance into the world!

Happy fall, one and all!
Celeste and Péter, continents apart, but not in our hearts!

We would like to wish Happy Birthday to the PI litter pups, born on April 15th, they are 4 years old today.  And we would also like to send Happy 4th Birthday wishes to the OJ litter born on April 20th.
